Vineyard & Wine Region Information
The Brunel family has been making exceptional wines in the Rhone Valley since the 17th Century. Their Sommelongue has fabulous blueberry and black cherry fruit flavours rounded off with the merest hint of pepper and liquorice spice. Drinks well on its own but will also pair nicely with any red meat, charcuterie or mature cheese.
The Brunel family's history in winemaking dates back to the 17th Century when they bought one of their vineyards from the Bishop of Avignon.
Winemaking has continued in the family for generations, but it was not until 1954 when Lucien Brunel created the Cailloux brand that things started taking off. André Brunel took over in 1971 and has expanded the area under vine, and also introduced new techniques and a non-chemical approach to production.
In 2012 André was joined by his son Fabrice, who will help continue the family tradition.
